What started as a monthlong service project turned into something truly incredible.

Wednesday morning, Whittier 6th-grade students presented a $9,138.28 donation to SunHive Collective after a month of fundraising, collecting supplies, and supporting the organization throughout April.

Teachers organized donation drives that collected seven large containers of school and craft supplies for SunHive. Students also created handmade blankets and Valentine’s Day cards, while teachers operated a “Snack Shack” during flex time to raise additional funds for the organization.

The effort was spearheaded by teachers Leslee Cunningham, Dondi Thompson and Reanna Dorsey.

We are proud of our students and staff for demonstrating the power of service, compassion and community partnership.

Big trucks, big learning and big fun!

Our Truman Elementary 5th graders helped celebrate National Public Works Week at the City of Norman’s Touch-a-Truck event. Students had the opportunity to explore city vehicles up close and learn about the many careers and people who help keep Norman running every day.

Thank you to the City of Norman for creating such a fun and hands-on experience for our students. We had a blast!

The Norman Public School Foundation's STEM Tank winners had an incredible day of hands-on learning and real-world problem solving today.

Students from Washington, Madison, Jefferson, Truman, Kennedy and Wilson Elementary Schools, along with Longfellow Middle School, spent the day exploring meteorology, emergency management and severe weather research alongside experts from OU, CIWRO, NOAA and the National Weather Service.

Throughout the event, students rotated through interactive sessions where they:
• Role-played as emergency managers responding to severe weather events
• Learned about tornado formation through hands-on demonstrations
• Explored forecasting operations and research vehicles, including NOAA NSSL Raptor radar trucks
• Watched a live weather balloon launch and learned how meteorologists use the data to better understand weather conditions

Experiences like these help inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers and community leaders. Congratulations again to all of our STEM Tank winners for representing their schools so well.

Norman North Cheer is continuing its championship tour!

After being recognized at the Oklahoma State Capitol for back-to-back STUNT state championships, seniors Adi Camp and Amanda Southarath had the opportunity to share their story on KOCO and represent Norman Public Schools on live television.

The Timberwolves completed an undefeated regular season, won a regional championship in double overtime against Bixby, and captured the state title with another double-overtime victory over Bixby to secure back-to-back championships.

The team also earned two top-10 finishes at NCA nationals in Texas this season.

We are proud of these student-athletes for the way they continue to represent Norman North with excellence, determination and pride.

Norman North High School German students recently showcased their skills at Oklahoma’s annual Deutschfest, held at OSU in Stillwater.

Deutschfest brings together German students from across the state to compete in a variety of cultural and language-based events, including baking, art, music, grammar jeopardy, draw-what-you-hear challenges and vocabulary competitions.

Our NNHS students represented their school with excellence, placing in nearly every category and demonstrating the depth of what they have been learning in the classroom. Beyond the competition, students enjoyed connecting with peers from across Oklahoma and celebrating German language and culture together.

Great work by these students and their teacher for continuing to elevate language learning at Norman North.

Our annual New Teacher Seaside Social at the CAL (Center for Arts and Learning) was a great way to wrap up the year.

New teachers, mentors, site liaisons and administrators came together to celebrate a successful school year and build connections across the district. The come-and-go event created a relaxed space for educators to get to know one another while enjoying a fun, beach-themed atmosphere.

Attendees enjoyed snacks and drinks from Chuy's Tex-Mex, The Winston and HTeaO, along with beach games and activities that kept the energy high throughout the afternoon.

Giveaways from Torchy's Tacos, Neighborhood Jam, Dara Marie's and Chuy’s added an extra layer of excitement for those in attendance.

It was a fun end-of-year celebration and a meaningful opportunity to recognize the work of our educators while strengthening connections across Norman Public Schools.

This week is Global Intergenerational Week, and we are proud to celebrate a special partnership that brings generations together in a meaningful way.

At Grace Living Center, one of our pre-K classrooms is located inside the nursing home. This creates daily opportunities for our youngest learners and the “Grands” to connect, learn and share experiences. From reading together to spending time side by side, these interactions build relationships that benefit everyone involved.

These photos capture just a few of the moments that highlight the power of intergenerational connection and the impact it has on both our students and senior community.

130 years of Jefferson… and what a weekend it was

This past weekend, Jefferson Elementary opened its doors to welcome back alumni, former staff, families and friends for a really special Open House. The halls were full of stories, laughter and plenty of “remember when” moments as people reconnected and took a walk down memory lane.

It also lined up with the release of the Jefferson History Book, which made the day even more meaningful, getting to celebrate the school’s past while sharing it in a new way.

If you stopped by, you know how special it felt. And if you couldn’t make it, you were definitely missed.

Here’s to 130 years of Jefferson and all the people who’ve made it what it is
