While students enjoyed their summer break, work continued behind the scenes across Norman Public Schools as crews completed a variety of bond-funded improvements at schools and district facilities.
The projects, part of NPS’ Building on Excellence initiative, focus on making schools more accessible, functional and welcoming for students, staff and families. Norman voters made the work possible.
At Kennedy Elementary, summer improvements included restroom and ADA upgrades, parking and bus loop improvements, and repairs to finishes throughout the building. Work is also continuing on a classroom addition that will allow all Kennedy students to learn inside the main school building rather than in portable classrooms. The addition is expected to be completed in spring 2027.
Eisenhower Elementary also saw significant improvements this summer. Crews worked on parking and the bus loop, restroom and ADA upgrades, drainage mitigation, exterior repairs and improvements to the school’s entrance. Interior spaces received updated finishes and millwork, helping refresh areas throughout the building.
“Our parents, families, students and staff are so proud to walk through these doors every day,” Eisenhower Principal Erin Crimmins said. “None of this would be possible without the support of our Norman community and the voters who said yes to the bond. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in our students and our school. Thank you so much.”
At Jackson Elementary, improvements focused on both the student experience and the long-term condition of the facility. The work included restroom and ADA upgrades, classroom enhancements, new flooring, kindergarten and corridor improvements, window replacements, exterior repairs and aesthetic improvements. The team also updated finishes and millwork throughout the school.
The NPS Health Services Center also received improvements. The team completed restroom and ADA upgrades, along with enhancements to training spaces, including new flooring and other finishes. The facility also received new exterior doors, exterior repairs and aesthetic improvements, as well as updates to finishes and millwork.
While some of these improvements are immediately visible, others address important accessibility, infrastructure and building needs that can have an impact on students and staff every day.
The summer projects are just a portion of the work taking place across Norman Public Schools through Building on Excellence. As additional projects are completed and construction continues, NPS will continue sharing progress across the district.
